In 2003 Suzuki added a sports grade to the Swift, called “Swift Sport” (Ignis Sport in Europe). It was inspired by the Ignis Super 1600, competing in the JWRC, featuring wider wheel treads, a 1.5 L engine, and a 5‑speed manual transmission. The car also includes semi‑bucket seats co‑developed with RECARO and carbon‑like panels on various parts.

In the JWRC the model is nicknamed the “Yellow Bullet” due to its small yellow body; in Japan it is known as the “Big Man’s Vehicle”. Although the HT81S designation is considered unofficial and not internationally unified, many Suzuki fans remain attracted by its high cost‑performance and nimble driving characteristics.
