Rain Cleans

About this mod

Blood and dirt wash away in the rain. A light drizzle makes little difference, while a full storm cleans the player, NPCs, horses, dogs, and wolves noticeably faster. Blood is fully removed over time, while dirt is cleaned down to a configurable floor.

Features

• Intensity-scaled cleaning: Rain intensity directly controls cleaning speed, scaling from a weak drizzle (0.5% per cycle) to a full storm (5% per cycle).
• Two-phase cleaning: A fast coarse pass handles bulk cleaning, switching to a slow gradual pass near the floor to avoid overshooting.
• Settlement-aware radius: Scan radius reduces to 5m in settlements and expands to 15m outside for performance.
• Interior check: Cleaning is disabled indoors; entities inside buildings are skipped even if the player is outside.
• UI-safe counter: Progress is preserved when opening the inventory or map.
• Rain adds dirt (optional): When enabled, rain gradually adds dirt if below the floor level. Default is OFF.

Configuration

User settings are in raincleans.cfg with valid values from 0–100.

• raincleans.minimum_blood = 0 (0 = fully clean, 100 = never cleans)
• raincleans.minimum_dirt = 40 (dirt floor)
• raincleans.rain_adds_dirt_player = false
• raincleans.rain_adds_dirt_npc = false

Advanced settings like tick rate and intensity thresholds are in raincleans.lua.

Console Commands

• raincleans_debug: Toggle detailed logs.
• raincleans_printstats: Print blood and dirt levels to log (bound to F9).

Known limitations

• Rain under open shelters (blacksmith sheds, market stalls) still applies cleaning.
• On load, the mod temporarily sets Henry to full blood/dirt to build a lookup table before restoring state. Interruptions during this process may cause unexpected levels.
• Game scheduler dirt additions may cause oscillation if the dirt floor is set high.
• Conflicts may occur with other mods that modify blood or dirt systems.
