About this mod

Combat slice of True RPG Overhaul. Classless version. Player and NPC equal balancing. Spam punishment. Rewards reactive gameplay. Everything except Knock Out (KO) mechanics applies to both player and NPCs. All animations are sped up by approximately 17%.

Features

  • Weapon combinations include buffs to balance weapons, keeping polearms high-impact.
  • Dodge, perfect block (PB), and masterstrike (MS) grant fatigue stacks that count down over 5 seconds.
  • Dodge: Increases cost by up to 70% with 3 stacks. Dodging during an opponent's swing within weapon range removes a stack.
  • Perfect Block: Shorter time window per stack. 4 stacks trigger a cooldown; repeated cooldowns lead to lockout until combat ends. Successful ripostes remove a stack, restore stamina, and apply double weapon KO value.
  • Masterstrike: Similar to PB with fewer stacks and longer cooldowns.
  • KO: Does not require head strikes. Enemy must be under 25HP. Dealing 1 HP damage adds 1/5 KO value; 5 HP deals full KO addup. Blocks roll for half KO value.
  • Kill/KO: Resets fatigue to assist in group fights.

BETA Combos

Mechanics are locked behind new perks in weapon skill trees. Currently for longswords only.

  • Passive: Any hit from combo animations applies chip damage.
  • Pommel Strike: Dueling combo; counts as a mace hit for KO; reduces enemy perfect block odds for 10 seconds. Disables perfect block against unhelmeted targets.
  • Knee Strike: Crowd control; slows movement and limits sprint for 10 seconds. Disables dodge if attack exceeds armor. Applies Knee Strike Mark for 15 seconds.
  • Mittelhaw: Crowd control; disables dodge for 10 seconds. Causes bleeding if attack exceeds armor. Knocks down targets with a Knee Strike Mark within weapon range.

Known issues

  • Unarmed currently has a bandaid fix to prevent KOs until fistfight mechanics are updated.
  • KO duration is 2 minutes of game time.
  • Clinch changes are not currently implemented.

Changelog

  • 1.4.1: KO Hotfix. Unarmed no longer KOs. KO hard duration set to 2 minutes or until player moves 30 meters away.
  • 1.4: Combo Update BETA. Perfect dodge refunds stamina. No hard lockouts for perfect block when outnumbered. Riposte perk removed; ripostes are now manual. Damage resistance on low health now includes stamina. Maximum stamina damage reduced from 40 to 25.
  • 1.3: Robust Kill/KO detection added.
  • 1.1.1: Icons display correctly in Hardcore mode.
  • 1.1: Fixes for perk icon references and combat detection methods.
