Light Shadows Overhaul screenshot

About this mod

This mod enables shadows for various lights, including lanterns and fires, which do not cast shadows in the base game. It provides a more grounded look, particularly in lesser-lit areas and nighttime environments.

Features

  • Dynamically enables shadows based on player position and screen visibility.
  • Includes a toggle to disable the mod when outside of villages for improved performance.
  • Prioritizes lights closer to the player for character shadows.
  • Disables sky light in cave areas like Scarlet Forest and Iceshard Cliffs to increase the shadow map budget.
  • Replaces standard PointLights with multiple SpotLights to optimize shadow map usage.

Requirements

  • Disable "Shadow Tweaks" in Camera Light Remover if seeking an additional character shadow.

Installation

  • Install via Fluffy Mod Manager or extract files directly into the game folder.

Known issues

  • There is a minor performance impact, approximately a 5% frame rate drop.
  • Some shadow pop-in may occur when multiple lights are present in a scene.
