About this mod

RE4R RELighting reworks and revamps lighting throughout Resident Evil 4 Remake, allowing most lights to cast shadows and improving character lighting for a more atmospheric and consistent look. The base game campaign is fully supported.

Features

  • Reworked lighting across the base game campaign
  • Most light sources now cast shadows
  • Improved character lighting
  • Experimental RT Shadows enabled on select light sources
  • Enemy torch cast shadows
  • Designed to work alongside Graphics Enhancement

In-Game Controls

The mod includes toggles within the REFramework Script Generated UI overlay for Character Light and Enemy Torch Shadow.

Requirements

  • REFramework by praydog
  • RE4R Graphics Enhancement (required for the RT Shadow toggle; Ray Tracing must be enabled in-game)

Installation

Method 1: Fluffy Mod Manager

  • Install REFramework by placing dinput.dll into the game's main folder.
  • Extract the mod and move the folder to Fluffy Mod Manager's Games/RE4R/Mods directory.
  • Enable via the manager under the RE Framework tab.

Method 2: Manual Install

  • Install REFramework.
  • Launch the game to initialize the REFramework overlay, enable Loose File Loader in the settings, and exit.
  • Extract the mod and move the natives and reframework folders into the game's main folder, overwriting when prompted.

Known issues

  • Shadow rendering may temporarily unload after exiting the inventory menu; rotate the camera to restore them.
  • Some lights require the RT Shadow toggle in the Graphics Enhancement mod to appear lit.
  • Enemy Torch Shadow toggle can be CPU-intensive when large groups of enemies are present.
