Chapter 0 Restoration screenshot

About this mod

Restores the cut Chapter 0, a playable prologue featuring Ashley, seamlessly integrated into the New Game flow before Chapter 1.

Features

  • Playable prologue as Ashley in the village at night.
  • Ashley uses her phone as a flashlight with custom light mechanics.
  • Unique frightened animation set for Ashley.
  • Ganados patrol the route with scripted sequences including Luis being dragged away.
  • Full chapter integration: chapter card, save slot, loading screen, and chapter-end screen.
  • Fixes a native bug causing Ashley's original level animations to stop working.

Restored content includes the original level area, light settings, internal animations, Ganado dialogue, fixed cameras, and checkpoints. Recreated elements include enemy placement, title cards, and save hand-offs. Music and UI assets are reinterpretations as original files were missing.

Installation

  1. Install REFramework.
  2. Ensure Fluffy Mod Manager is updated and place the mod archive into the Mods folder.
  3. Enable the mod via the manager's REFramework tab.
  4. Verify the file ch0_restoration.lua and the ch0_patches directory exist in RESIDENT EVIL 4 BIOHAZARD RE4/reframework/autorun. If missing, manually copy the reframework directory from the mod folder to the game root.
