Volcanic Glacial Plateau - Biome Visual Transformation screenshot

About this mod

This visual overhaul modifies the Plateau biome, replacing its arid, dusty appearance with a vast ice sheet covered in black volcanic ash, inspired by Icelandic glaciers. It functions as a biome skin pack and does not alter gameplay mechanics such as flora, fauna, resources, keywords, or quests. The biome is renamed to Volcanic Glacial Plateau and appears on ten specific celestial bodies: Nirvana III, Cassiopeia II-a, Al-Battani III, Enlil V, Lontrah, Ourea, Stellis-A, Foucault V-b, Muphrid II, and Charybdis VI.

Features

  • Terrain retextured with a black, blue, and white color scheme designed to blend with procedurally generated terrain and specific POIs.
  • Valley fog is now an almost permanent feature.
  • Burning Haze weather effect added to simulate distant volcanic eruptions.

Installation

  • Use a mod manager for installation.
  • The mod can be installed mid-game.
  • A loose file version is available for those approaching BA2 limits; the main file is not required if using this.

Compatibility

  • Modifies vanilla record CanyonsNoLife08 (BIOM).
  • Conflicts with other mods editing the same biome.
  • Has its own climate entry and is load-order independent of other weather mods.
  • Does not edit worldspaces or cells.
  • Should be loaded after other mods that edit biomes.
