About this mod

Subnautica 2 Mod Manager is a safety-first Windows mod manager for UE4SS and pak mods. The tool operates via a simple flow: Import mods, Install & Enable, Apply, and Launch. It maintains an install manifest to ensure that only files managed by the application can be uninstalled or removed.

Features

  • Steam install discovery for app ID 1962700
  • Manual install path selection for Steam, Epic, and WinGDK layouts
  • Drag/drop and browse support for zip, 7z, and folder structures
  • Pak bundle support (.pak, .ucas, .utoc) and LogicMods support
  • UE4SS runtime, Lua, and C++ mod detection
  • Protected Vanilla profile and editable modded profiles
  • Config editing for .lua, .ini, .json, .txt, and .cfg files
  • Manifest-backed backups before overwrites
  • Diagnostics, activity logging, and support reports

Installation

  • Extract the portable zip to a folder outside the game directory and outside Program Files.
  • Run Subnautica2ModManager.exe and confirm the game install path in Settings.

Supported Mods

  • UE4SS runtime folders or archives
  • UE4SS mods using Scripts/main.lua or dlls/main.dll
  • Pak bundles (.pak, .ucas, .utoc)
  • Zip, 7z, and RAR archives

Pak target policy

  • _P paks: Subnautica2/Content/Paks/~mods
  • Non-_P logic/Blueprint paks: Subnautica2/Content/Paks/LogicMods

Known issues

  • Game Pass WinGDK support is experimental; individual mods may crash if incompatible.
  • Certain layouts like loose game-root overlays are blocked from automatic Apply to prevent conflicts or unmanaged overwrites.
